Microsoft® System Center 2012 Configuration Manager provides a rich feature set that you can use to migrate objects from Microsoft® System Center Configuration Manager 2007 through Configuration Manager 2012 to System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager. In addition, it provides the necessary tools for restructuring your site hierarchy during migration.
Differences between Configuration Manager 2007 site architecture and Configuration Manager 2012 site architecture may require you to perform site consolidation when performing migration. Using the built-in migration functionality, you can migrate objects from any source site in the Configuration Manager 2007 hierarchy to the central administration site in the Configuration Manager 2012 hierarchy. From the central administration site, the migrated objects are replicated as global data to all sites in the hierarchy.
Using the Migration Job Wizard, you can migrate different types of objects such as collections, advertisements, software packages, software updates, Asset Intelligence customizations, operating system deployment objects, desired configuration management objects, and software metering rules.
